Before the roll opens

Every room worth entering has a list at the door.

The roll closes at 300. The list is read in the order it was joined.

What the first names are owed

Sabbatical is a private club for women who intend to live — essays written in confidence, four Evenings a year, and one month that belongs to you. When the committee begins reading, it reads this list first, in order.

Join now and two things are held in your name. First reading — your application is opened before the public queue. And the founding offer: $1,000 toward your first Sabbatical, honored when the first house is called.

One condition, and it is the honest kind: an offer is sealed to a person, not an email address. Leave only your email and your place is held; finish the dossier — a name, a birthday, a city — and the offer is yours in writing.
